Item Details, Condition & Measurements
This large antique English creamware/pearlware platter features a deeply saturated cobalt blue feather or shell edge surrounding a mellow cream body. Its canted-corner form and beautifully weathered surface give it exceptional presence for English country, primitive farmhouse or collected European interiors.
Attribution: Unmarked. Acquired with a Leeds attribution; form, body and decoration are consistent with early English wares commonly described as Leeds-type. Because similar feather-edge pieces were made by multiple potteries, it is conservatively listed as Leeds-type rather than definitively Leeds Pottery.
Estimated circa: 1800–1840.
Measurements: Approx. 15.5" × 12".
Condition: Extensive age-related crazing, darkening within craze lines, staining, discoloration, utensil marks, scratches, glaze irregularities and surface wear. There is an old darkened edge chip/loss plus smaller edge/surface imperfections. Underside also shows extensive crazing and discoloration. Please examine all photos closely.
Recommended primarily for decorative display rather than food service. Beautiful on a wall, dresser, pantry shelf or within a collection of early ironstone, creamware or blue-and-white pottery.
