There are antique ceramics that survive their age quietly, and then there are pieces where two centuries of age become part of the decoration. This enormous early English blue feather-edge platter belongs firmly in the latter category.
Measuring approximately 15.5 inches × 12 inches, this substantial antique platter has a wonderfully architectural canted-corner form surrounded by a deeply saturated cobalt blue feather or shell edge. Against the mellow cream-colored body, the blue border remains remarkably graphic.
