Wonderful antique embossed Diamond Match Company tin storage box dating to the late 19th or early 20th century.
Originally used for the storage and transport of matches, this substantial black japanned metal box now makes a striking primitive farmhouse display piece. It would be equally at home beside a fireplace holding long fireplace matches, kindling, pine cones, or other hearth accessories.
The lid is embossed “THE DIAMOND MATCH COMPANY” and the interior of the lid features matching embossed advertising. The original wire carry handle, hinged lid, and latch remain intact, preserving the authentic character of this early industrial utility piece.

The rust has been carefully cleaned and stabilized with food-grade mineral oil to preserve the original surface while preventing further deterioration. however, for permanent uses you might consider applying a clear coat
