A wonderfully unusual and deeply charming antique folk art shadow box featuring dozens of hand-carved and hand-painted miniature figures, animals, fencing, trees, and village buildings arranged across three shelves inside the original glass-front cabinet.
This piece has an incredible primitive presence and appears to be handmade, likely European Alpine folk art dating to approximately the 1920s–1940s. The back retains handwritten German wording including “Gebirge” (“mountains” / “mountain range”), strongly suggesting German, Austrian, Swiss, or Alpine regional origin.
