Time has given this pair of vintage wooden candlesticks the kind of surface that simply cannot be convincingly reproduced when new. Their dark brown finish has been rubbed, chipped, dulled and worn through years of handling and use, revealing warmer brown wood tones beneath and creating the wonderfully imperfect appearance prized in primitive and collected interiors.
What makes these particularly appealing is their naturally timeworn surface. The dark finish varies from deep brown to nearly black in areas, with visible finish loss, rubbing, scratches, small chips, scuffs and exposed wood throughout. Wear is especially noticeable along the bases, edges, candle cups and raised portions of the turning—the areas that naturally receive contact over years of use. The result is not a polished or newly distressed appearance, but an irregular aged surface with depth and character.
