Item Details, Condition & Measurements

Strong green UV fluorescence and above-background radiation-meter response, both consistent with uranium glass. Not lab-tested by XRF.

Beautiful large circa 1930s–1940s uranium glass covered candy dish featuring an elegant floral and cherry motif with gorgeous pressed details throughout the glass. This stunning piece glows beautifully under black light and makes an exceptional display piece for both uranium glass collectors and lovers of romantic vintage décor.

This piece displays beautifully in daylight and absolutely comes alive under UV lighting.

Measurements: • Approximately 6.5” tall • Approximately 8.5” wide

Condition: Excellent vintage condition overall. No cracks. One tiny fleabite under the inner rim/lip that is not noticeable during normal display and does not detract from the beauty of the piece. Lid fits properly and presents beautifully. Please review all photos carefully as they are considered part of the description.

Circa: 1935–1942

Oak Ridge Associated Universities / Museum of Radiation and Radioactivity Uranium glass is broader than Vaseline glass; transparent yellow to yellow-green glass owes color to uranium; UV testing in the dark is described as a reliable way to identify uranium when glass glows rich green; ORAU also notes exceptions where uranium glass may not fluoresce.

Use as primary evidence for UV testing and for explaining that “Vaseline glass” is narrower than “uranium glass.”

Portable Spectral Services / micro-XRF article Explains UV fluorescence and Geiger counter testing as methods and shows micro-XRF as elemental confirmation.

Consistent with uranium glass, but still screen for residues/repairs.
