Item Details, Condition & Measurements

Object: Pitcher / decorative vessel Material: Stoneware / pottery Primary color: Cream / warm beige Secondary color: Cobalt blue Style: Appalachian, Folk, Primitive, Country Production technique: Wheel-thrown / hand-thrown pottery Decoration: Hand-painted / hand-brushed cobalt floral Finish: Glazed Vintage: Yes Estimated Circa: 1980–1990 Region: East Tennessee, probably Washington County — attribution based on style and local provenance Maker: Unknown / unmarked Height: Approximately 7.5" Width: Approximately 5" Condition: Excellent; no chips, cracks or repairs observed

The pitcher was acquired in Washington County, East Tennessee, an area with a long and important pottery tradition. While the piece is unmarked and its individual maker is unknown, its construction, materials and decorative character are consistent with later 20th-century Southern Appalachian pottery. We believe an East Tennessee origin, probably Washington County, circa 1980–1990 is a reasonable working attribution. This is an attribution rather than a documented maker identification.

The vessel itself is clearly handmade. Its substantial ovoid body shows the character of wheel-thrown construction, while pronounced concentric rings articulate both the neck and foot. A separately formed and applied handle rises to the shoulder, opposite a gently pinched pouring lip. Subtle variations in the form are part of the hand-making process rather than the mechanical uniformity associated with molded commercial ceramics.

Measurements: Approximately 7.5" high Approximately 5" at widest point

Maker: Unknown; no maker's mark or signature observed.

Estimated Circa: 1980–1990
