A wonderfully festive vintage handmade crochet afghan featuring dimensional red flower motifs against creamy ivory centers, all framed in rich Christmas red. The raised flowers have the unmistakable look of poinsettias, giving this beautiful handmade blanket exceptional Christmas appeal.
This is not an ordinary granny square afghan. The workmanship is impressive throughout, with beautifully even tension, consistent squares, dimensional floral centers, and carefully joined construction. Someone very talented spent a great deal of time creating this piece.
The classic red and ivory color palette makes it especially beautiful for Christmas decorating. Drape it over the back of a favorite chair or sofa, layer it at the foot of a bed, or add it to a traditional, cottage, farmhouse, or vintage-inspired holiday room. The generous red fringe at both ends gives the blanket wonderful movement and an especially finished appearance.
Measurements:
Approximately 45” wide × 70” long, not including fringe.
The fringe measures approximately 5” at each end, adding approximately 10” to the overall length for a total of approximately 80” including fringe.
Condition:
Beautiful vintage handmade condition. There is some very modest pilling and surface fuzz consistent with age and previous use. I found no loose threads or holes. The crochet work remains beautifully intact and presents exceptionally well.
