CONDITION: Exceptional vintage condition with no stains, rips, tears, thinning, holes or repairs observed. The decorative fringe is remarkably complete with no noticeable fringe loss. This is an original vintage Bates Queen Elizabeth twin bedspread, one of the most enduring American matelassé bedspread designs produced by Bates. Measuring approximately 78" x 110", this substantial cream-to-ivory spread features the Queen Elizabeth pattern's dramatic central medallion surrounded by elaborate raised floral, foliate and scrolling designs, architectural woven borders and a generous decorative fringe.
The dimensions are particularly consistent with a vintage twin-size Queen Elizabeth spread. Comparable examples identified as twin measure approximately 78" x 106" and 80" x 111", while a current vintage example measuring 80" x 109.5" is also in essentially this same size range.
