CONDITION: Very good vintage condition with no significant staining, holes or repairs observed. The sheer organza remains attractive and the printed cotton retains strong color. As a handmade vintage textile, there are small irregularities in the stitching and construction consistent with its age and handmade origin. A wonderfully graphic mid-century half apron, this circa-1950s example combines a delicate sheer ivory-to-pale-yellow organza body with a dramatically contrasting black cotton folk floral print in red, yellow and white.
The approximately 66-inch sash is notably generous for an older apron. In addition to making the apron more accommodating for modern wear, the extra length allows the printed ties to form a substantial bow and gives the piece considerably more visual presence when displayed.
