Item Details, Condition & Measurements
This beautiful late Victorian to early Edwardian portrait features a dignified woman rendered in soft sepia tones beneath original flat matte glass. The frame is exceptional in person — richly layered with ornate raised molding, scrolling detail, and a warm faux burl walnut finish that creates remarkable architectural presence on the wall.
Pieces with authentic family provenance and untouched original backing are increasingly difficult to find, especially in this impressive statement scale.
This portrait works beautifully within: • dark academia interiors • primitive farmhouse décor • gothic cottage styling • historic homes • moody traditional interiors • collected heirloom gallery walls
An absolutely stunning antique ancestral portrait housed in an oversized and deeply detailed oval wood frame with extraordinary warmth, depth, and presence.
Measurements: 28” x 24”
Features: • Large antique oval portrait • Original flat matte glass • Deep ornate wood frame • Warm sepia coloration • Handwritten provenance note on back • Beautiful statement scale • Ready to hang
Condition: Beautiful antique condition with age-appropriate wear consistent with time and use. Minor finish wear, light surface variations, and expected aging are present and contribute to the authentic antique character of the piece. Backing paper shows age and wear appropriate to age. Please review all photos carefully as they are considered part of the description.
A remarkable heirloom-quality decorative piece that instantly adds history, atmosphere, and collected sophistication to a space.
