Graceful proportions, richly colored satin glass, and finely detailed metalwork come together in this beautiful antique banquet oil lamp dating to the early twentieth century. Collectors often refer to this style as a "Gone With the Wind" lamp, named for its distinctive large decorative globe and elegant banquet form, although banquet oil lamp is the historically correct term.
The lamp features a beautifully molded pink satin glass font accented with repeating Victorian transfer decoration, an ornate openwork cast metal pedestal, a complete Success burner, and a large decorated floral satin glass globe that creates exceptional visual presence. Standing an impressive 24 inches tall, it displays beautifully whether placed on a library table, sideboard, entry console, or mantel.
The wick adjustment knob is clearly marked "SUCCESS," identifying the burner as one associated with the Pittsburgh Lamp, Brass & Glass Company, one of America's best-known manufacturers of decorative oil lamps during the early twentieth century. This lamp is in very good antique condition.
The satin glass retains a beautiful soft finish with attractive color and decoration. The ornate cast metal base remains structurally sound with honest finish wear consistent with age. The Success burner is complete, and the decorative floral globe displays beautifully.
No cracks or significant damage were observed in the glass components during inspection. As expected for an antique of this age, there is light finish wear, minor surface marks, and age-related patina on the metal components that contribute to its authenticity and character.
